Please note that completion of this form is the initial step in securing your role(s) and shift(s). A member of the Volunteer Coordination Team will contact you to walk you through the final confirmation. All volunteers are important to us and we love to have newcomers! However, when choosing volunteer assignments, we do take into consideration the following:
- Whether individual has volunteered in the past
- Individual’s past performance as a volunteer
- How early the volunteer information is submitted
Please plan to attend our Volunteer Orientation to be held on site (3666 Lower River Road across the street from Lathrop County Park) on Wednesday May 27th, 2020, from 6:00pm to 7:30 pm. You will have the opportunity to tour the venue, meet your leaders, and an opportunity ask more in-depth questions
We appreciate your interest in volunteering at the Wild Rogue Balloon & Kite Festival. Volunteers who work a four hour and 15-minute shift will receive:
- Free 2020 Event T-shirt
- Free weekend pass into the event
- Free parking spot for event
- For every shift, you will be endered to WIN a Pilot Pack (Filled with swag and discounts from your favorite local businesses thoughout the Rogue Valley)
Hosted for all volunteers is our “Deflation Party” after gates close on Sunday from 2pm-4pm. We welcome you to come and unwind in the VIP tent. Beer & wine will not be included but may be purchased from our Vender on site.
Social Media Team – Work directly with Event Chairmen and Event Director (Balloon Meister) to make social media posts for real-time event updates.
Farm Bureau Info Booth – Man the information booth and work with the Josephine County Farm Bureau. You must be knowledgeable of all event activities, rules, and schedules.
Kids Activity Area – Working with Children and their Parents assisting with crafts and maintain order and safety as needed for each activity. Example: Blow up Slide, Bounce House Obstacle course, etc.
Keep It Clean Team – sanitation; duties include, emptying trash and recycle bins throughout event site. Walk the festival grounds picking up trash, equipment will be provided.
Transportation – Transport guests, volunteers and staff in a golf cart around the property as needed.
Floaters – Reports to the volunteer coordinator team in the HQ tent, will serve as needed for breaks, runner, replacements, etc.
Balloon Crew – Work with your designated Pilot with customer relations and safety. Crew tasks include set-up basket, cold/hot air inflation of envelope, navigate, chase, landing, breakdown and storage. Once assigned to a pilot you will remain with that team during the duration (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) of the event. Your pilot may be involved in all or some of the following:
- Morning Launches: event takes place at Parkside Elementary from 5:15 am-10 am
- Tethered Rides: event takes place at Event Site starting at 8 am for as long as weather permits
- Night Glows: event takes place at Event Site start time is at Dusk around 9 pm weather permitting
Morning Launch Greeters – Greet the public during the morning launches, hand out event informational materials and direct parking as needed, walk around the launch field and assist customers with questions, photo ops, and clean up after launch is complete. (Report to Parkside Elementary School – 05:15 am to 10:00 am).
Event Set Up Crew – Starting on event site two weeks before the event for set up. Must be able to lift 50lbs, work out-doors and in the heat, and lift arms above your head for extended time, be able to tie basic knots that keep tension, work with thoughtfulness and care as a team. Jobs may include t-post pounding, lifting 50lbs. plus, securing and setting up tents, build fence line on foot, build straw pyramid, and putting up banners. Stage set up & break down prior to the event as well as Monday following the event
Event Tear Down Team – same as Event Set Up Crew for the week after the festival. June 1-6
Beer & Wine Garden Monitor – OLCC serving permit a plus. You will be responsible for checking I.D.’s at entrance of the garden and throughout the beer garden area ensuring compliance. Drink monitor oversee guests encouraging them to stay in compliance with the rules of the OLCC and the Events Beer and Wine Garden, while being the eyes and ears for paid security. Beer and Wine Garden Hours: 10 am- Midnight
Beer & Wine Server – These positions require previous server experience and valid OLCC server permit. General Serving duties bus, serve, refill, clear, etc.
Security Monitor – Be the Eyes and ears for paid security.
Entertainment Crew – Work with the stage manager and DB Audio to insure the best stage performances and sound.
Tough Truck & Monster Truck Assist – Assist with loading and unloading of customers into and out of the Monster Truck. Always maintain safety, communicate with monster truck driver.
Cow Train Helper – Assist with loading and unloading of riders following all the safety rules. Always maintain safety, communicate with cow train driver. Must be comfortable speaking to the group of riders explaining the rules. There must be a spotter sitting with the cow train driver keeping an eye on the riders.
Vendor Ambassador – be the liaison between vendors and the Vendor Coordinator, monitor the vendors and festival area to ensure safety and to answer the public’s questions as well as facilitate vendor needs.
Hemp Expo Assistant – Help the Hemp Expo Coordinator make the expo run smoothly and successfully.
Head Quarters – volunteers are customer-service oriented people who assist with set up, check in, and check out. (Training provided).
